About the music/Dion
“Over the years I have had many different experiences in my personal and professional life. I have lived through events that most people would pray not to experience in their own lifetime.
I have been exposed to the 'darker' side of life [and the world], sometimes by choice and sometimes by force.
But rather than wallow in self-pity, these events and experiences have given me the ability to move on and have played a vital role in my development as a person and artist.
Providing me the ‘material’ for my lyrics and the ideas behind the themes and subjects I explore.
I am neither light-hearted nor am I cold-hearted.
I simply present ideas based on my own experience(s).
To acknowledge experiences / ideas and the [emotional] journeys of my audience as validation that their life and in fact all life , still goes on and cannot be ignored.
Living in denial is NOT an option.

2009: the year of Dion!
This year is shaping up to look very prosperous indeed. With inspirational new management ( Mad-Fly Management ) new music style/Genre` and collaborations with a select group of Australia’s best performers/Producers and local Talent. Keep an eye out for the new “Slasher” Feature Film show-casing Dion’s single(s) acting and New Music Video.

Dion's varied career has spanned music, television and live performances across Australia and New Zealand, with his own brand of funky pop and electric dance moves. Writing and performing his own songs, he explains, is his way of using music as a therapeutic outlet. “I haven’t always seen myself as a performer," he says, "I just enjoy the feeling of being onstage and taking a moment to find my inner peace.”
Dion has come a long way from a shy Palmerston North schoolboy, turning his hand to modelling, acting, dancing, fashion design, script-writing, make-up artistry and now co-producing his own shows.
Yet music remains his first love. “I got into music more as a writer, but at the time I couldn’t find anyone to sing my tracks. So I ended up singing my tracks myself: pretty daunting when you have no formal training!”
Drawing inspiration from the nightmare of a first break-up to looking at what is really important in life, Dion is making it a reality by writing, singing and co-producing all his songs with talented producers around Australia.
Following appearances on NZ comedy shows, Dion's major break was in the TVNZ reality show " Make or Break ", which followed ordinary folks chasing their dreams. Dion had a month to pull a professional show together from scratch: with help from his friends and contacts, his vision was realised as a full stage show to a select industry audience, with thunderous applause from a very appreciative crowd. Soon after the show aired, Dion was on his way to Australia where he continued to write and produce his music, and perform for several events throughout the country. He also appeared alongside Jimeoin in the comedy "The Extra".
After a short hiatus and settled in Sydney once more, Dion is back with new music and new energy as one of the city's hot new solo singer/songwriters! |
